Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo Europe Returns to Amsterdam

The Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo Europe is set to return to the RAI Center in Amsterdam from June 24 to 26, serving as a crucial gathering for professionals driving maritime electrification and decarbonization. Over 150 exhibitors, including shipbuilders, engine and drivetrain manufacturers, battery and fuel cell suppliers, and shore charging specialists, will showcase the latest developments in sustainable and efficient maritime technologies. While the event primarily focuses on large ships and industrial applications, it also features exhibitors with products and systems tailored for smaller leisure and workboats.

The expo will kick off with the E&HME Awards, recognizing achievements in various categories, including Environmental Achievement of the Year for Propulsion System Design, Vessel Design, and Industry Contribution. Other awards will honor innovations in concept vessel design, new propulsion technology, vessel charging, ports and harbor innovation, hydrogen technology, and the marine industry supplier of the year.

One of the most anticipated announcements at the expo will be the launch of the Global Alliance for Maritime Electrification (GAME). This new coalition brings together four not-for-profit associations—IEMA, ZESTAs, EOPSA, and the Maritime Battery Forum—to align research, policy, and industry action towards reducing emissions. GAME unites over 250 member organizations worldwide, aiming to accelerate the transition to zero-emission maritime technologies.

The expo will feature a diverse range of exhibitors, each bringing unique solutions to the table. Alternatives Energies, based in La Rochelle, France, has been a pioneer in integrating zero-emissions or hybrid propulsion-energy systems for professional navigation. Ampros, from Pruszków, Poland, offers modular electric propulsion systems adaptable to various boat types, including motor yachts, day boats, and ferries. ARRK Engineering, with locations in Germany and the USA, provides tailored engineering solutions for electric and hybrid propulsion systems, from concept to series development.

Bosch Engineering, a subsidiary of Robert Bosch, will showcase its expertise in adapting electronic systems for marine electrification, leveraging proven automotive series technology. EODev, based in France, focuses on developing sustainable, reliable, and affordable hydrogen-based energy solutions. EPTechnologies, from Sønderborg, Denmark, offers complete marine propulsion solutions for electric and hybrid vessels, emphasizing quality, innovation, and cost-effectiveness.

Helios Marine, based in Germany, provides full-service electric solutions, reducing the total cost of ownership and offering custom, scalable packages. Huracan Marine, from Italy, specializes in electric propulsion systems for various marine applications. Kreisel, an international solution-provider, develops high-performance batteries for e-mobility and stationary storage systems. MG Energy Systems and Molabo offer electric drive systems tailored to specific boat requirements, ensuring efficient and reliable propulsion.

NT Systems, based in Kranj, Slovenia, provides compact, turnkey electric propulsion systems for commercial and leisure applications, with a focus on easy servicing and low maintenance. Plug, from Norway, offers shore power and charging solutions for ports and marinas, aiming to support the transition to zero-emission solutions. Praxis, based in Germany, presents the Praxis Mega-Guard GreenMotor, a highly efficient permanent magnet motor for ship’s propulsion and generator applications.

The Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo Europe is poised to spark significant discussions and collaborations within the maritime industry. The launch of GAME and the diverse range of exhibitors highlight the growing momentum towards electrification and decarbonization. As the industry continues to evolve, events like this will play a crucial role in shaping future developments, fostering innovation, and driving the adoption of sustainable technologies. The expo serves as a platform for industry leaders to share insights, challenge norms, and pave the way for a greener maritime future.
