Arab Academy’s AIDA IV Docks in Cyprus, Strengthening Maritime Ties

The AIDA IV, a training vessel operated by the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, has docked at Lemesos Port in Cyprus, symbolising a deepening partnership between Cyprus and the Arab region. The ship’s arrival comes on the heels of a Memorandum of Understanding signed last October between the Shipping Deputy Ministry of the Republic of Cyprus and the Arab Academy, marking a significant step in maritime education and cooperation.

The vessel’s visit was celebrated with a reception onboard, attended by the Honourable Minister of Transport of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Professor Dr Ismail Abdel Ghafar Ismail Farag, President of the Arab Academy, and other distinguished leaders from the shipping community. The event underscored the importance of collaboration in advancing maritime education, training, and sustainability.

In his remarks, the representative from the Shipping Deputy Ministry of the Republic of Cyprus extended a warm welcome to the attendees, particularly the Honourable Minister of Transport of the Kingdom of Bahrain, highlighting the strong ties between Cyprus and the Arab region. He also expressed deep appreciation to Professor Dr Farag for his leadership and vision, as well as for bringing the AIDA IV to Cyprus.

The representative emphasised that the arrival of the AIDA IV in Cyprus is a tangible reflection of the strength of the partnership and the shared commitment to advancing maritime education and cooperation. He expressed confidence that this partnership will pave the way for more concrete initiatives in maritime education, training, and sustainability.

The event was not just a celebration of the partnership but also an opportunity to strengthen ties between Cyprus, Egypt, and the wider Arab world. The presence of so many distinguished leaders from the shipping community highlighted the importance of working together to build a sustainable and innovative future for global shipping.

The representative concluded by thanking the Arab Academy for their partnership and expressing anticipation for the fruitful cooperation that lies ahead. The arrival of the AIDA IV and the subsequent reception onboard serve as a testament to the growing collaboration in the maritime sector, setting the stage for future initiatives that will drive innovation and sustainability in global shipping.
