Kraken Expands Asia-Pacific Reach with BlueZone Partnership

Kraken Robotics Inc. has taken a significant step in expanding its footprint in the Asia-Pacific region by appointing BlueZone Group as an authorized reseller of its cutting-edge Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS) technology in Australia and New Zealand. This strategic partnership is set to bolster Kraken’s presence in the region and enhance the capabilities of local naval forces, particularly the Royal Australian Navy (RAN).

The collaboration between Kraken and BlueZone Group has already borne fruit, as evidenced by their joint efforts in servicing the RAN’s KATFISH and ISO20 Launch and Recovery System (LARS) aboard HMAS Leeuwin. The system, now operational under the management of RAN’s Hydrographic Service, underscores the effectiveness of in-country supportability facilitated by this partnership. Notably, Kraken and BlueZone delivered the first Depot-Level Maintenance service on the KATFISH towed SAS system in under one month, a testament to their commitment to rapid and efficient service delivery.

Kraken’s SAS technology is renowned for its ability to perform imaging and bathymetric mapping simultaneously, delivering an impressive resolution of up to 2 cm x 2 cm at ranges up to 200 meters per side. This versatility allows it to be integrated on a variety of uncrewed underwater vehicle (UUV) platforms, ranging from man-portable systems to extra-large UUVs. The KATFISH towed SAS platform, in particular, integrates Kraken SAS on an actively stabilized intelligent towfish system, enabling operation at speeds up to 10 knots for rapid, high-resolution data collection.

Moreover, Kraken’s ISO20 and USV autonomous launch and recovery systems (LARS) offer flexible deployment solutions compatible with a wide range of platforms. These include mine countermeasure vessels (MCMVs), vessels of opportunity, and unmanned surface vessels (USVs) 11 meters and above. This flexibility is crucial for enhancing the operational capabilities of naval forces, allowing them to adapt to various mission requirements and environmental conditions.

The partnership between Kraken Robotics and BlueZone Group is poised to drive innovation and technological advancement in the maritime sector. By leveraging their combined expertise and resources, they aim to provide superior support and solutions to naval forces in Australia and New Zealand. This collaboration not only strengthens Kraken’s market position but also underscores the importance of strategic alliances in driving technological progress and operational excellence in the maritime industry.

As Kraken Robotics Inc. continues to expand its global reach, the appointment of BlueZone Group as an authorized reseller marks a pivotal moment in the company’s growth trajectory. This partnership is set to enhance the capabilities of naval forces in the Asia-Pacific region, ensuring they are equipped with the latest technology to meet the evolving challenges of underwater surveillance and mapping. The collaboration between Kraken and BlueZone Group exemplifies the power of strategic partnerships in driving innovation and delivering cutting-edge solutions to the maritime industry.
