Miros, MT Unite to Revolutionize Offshore Vessel Operations

Miros and Marine Technologies (MT) have inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to fuse advanced marine sensing tech with MT’s vessel control and smart-ship systems. The non-binding agreement signals a shared ambition to merge Miros’ real-time ocean sensing, wave and current monitoring, and oil spill detection with MT’s expertise in offshore vessel control and dynamic positioning.

This isn’t just about tech integration—it’s about reshaping offshore operations. By embedding Miros’ Wavex systems into MT’s dynamic positioning setups, the duo aims to deliver pre-installed, OEM-style solutions that enhance vessel safety, efficiency, and sustainability. The collaboration extends to joint development, with a focus on vessel performance analytics and offshore wind operations.

The partnership could unlock new capabilities for vessel operators worldwide. For Miros, this alliance expands its reach, leveraging MT’s global distribution channels. For MT, it’s an opportunity to enrich its offerings with cutting-edge sensor tech, bolstering its support for a fleet of roughly 300 vessels, primarily in the Gulf of Mexico and Brazil.

“This agreement marks the beginning of what we believe will be a transformative partnership for both companies,” said Marius Five Aarset, CEO of Miros. “Marine Technologies has a remarkable track record in vessel control and, by combining their systems expertise with our sensor technology, we can efficiently bring powerful new capabilities to vessel operators worldwide. Driving safer, more efficient, and more sustainable offshore operations is core to Miros’ being, and this MoU further solidifies that mission.”

Jan Mikalsen, CEO of Marine Technologies, echoed the sentiment: “Our companies share a passion for innovation, a drive to deliver real operational value and with this MoU we now have a framework in place to quickly deliver technology that will reshape the way offshore operations are conducted. The potential we see here, especially when it comes to integrating real-time sea-state data with DP and performance systems, is enormous and I can’t wait to see this partnership bear fruit.”

The collaboration could set a new standard for offshore operations, blending real-time data with advanced vessel control to optimise performance and safety. As the maritime industry pushes towards smarter, greener operations, partnerships like this one could pave the way for transformative change.
