An Indian defence firm has launched a new manufacturing facility in Pune dedicated to producing Uncrewed Surface Vehicles (USVs), marking a significant step in its partnership with U.S.-based Liquid Robotics. This collaboration aims to co-develop and co-produce advanced maritime systems, as announced on Thursday.
The new plant underscores the joint efforts of Liquid Robotics, a Boeing enterprise, and Sagar Defence Engineering, aimed at strengthening India’s defence industrial base. The facility will focus on producing USVs, which are crucial for enhancing undersea domain awareness through local production capabilities and building expertise for the Wave Glider platform.
The Wave Glider, developed by Liquid Robotics, is a pioneering USV powered by wave and solar energy, renowned for its durability and efficiency. By enabling the production, ocean testing, and maintenance of unmanned maritime systems, this collaboration merges global technological expertise with Indian innovation.
