Dublin Tech Week 2026 Spotlights Marine Innovation

Dublin Tech Week is back for its second year, promising a week-long celebration of technology, creativity, and collaboration across the Irish capital. From 22 to 29 May 2026, the city will host a diverse programme of conferences, exhibitions, workshops, and networking events, all aimed at reinforcing Dublin’s status as a global tech hub. But this year, there’s a growing call for the marine technology sector to take centre stage.

The initiative, which debuted in 2025, has set the bar high with its ambitious goal of showcasing Dublin’s innovation ecosystem while fostering collaboration across sectors. It’s not just about the tech giants or the latest gadgets—Dublin Tech Week is also about promoting STEM engagement among young people and underrepresented groups, and connecting the public with developments in technology, culture, and sustainability.

And let’s not forget the potential for Ireland’s burgeoning marine tech and blue economy sector to shine. This isn’t just about silicon and circuits; it’s about offshore energy, maritime data, robotics, and ocean science. Including these sectors in the programme would reflect the true breadth of Ireland’s technology landscape and its deep connection to the marine environment.

Organisations, venues, and community groups are invited to host events during the week, with participation encouraged from startups, established companies, educators, and creative industries. It’s a chance for the marine tech sector to step into the spotlight and share its innovations with a wider audience.

Ross Curley, Head of Economic Development at Dublin City Council and Dublin Regional Place Brand, captured the spirit of the event when he said, “Following the success of Dublin’s first Tech Week in 2025, Dublin City Council and the Dublin Brand are proud to support its return in 2026. Dublin Tech Week celebrates our world-class talent, innovation and collaborative spirit, cementing our city as a leading global tech hub.”

Planned programme highlights include industry summits, open house events at tech companies, hackathons, product showcases, and family-focused tech activities. But if the marine tech sector seizes the opportunity, we could see even more exciting developments—perhaps a showcase of autonomous underwater vehicles, a deep dive into offshore renewable energy, or interactive exhibits on ocean data science.

As planning continues, the question is: will Dublin Tech Week 2026 fully embrace the blue economy? The potential is there, and the stage is set. It’s time for Ireland’s marine tech innovators to make waves.
