The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and Dalian Maritime University (DMU) have inked a renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deepen collaboration in talent development and academic exchange within the maritime sector. The MoU outlines a robust framework for faculty and student exchanges, study visits, and joint maritime training and research programmes. These initiatives will zero in on critical areas like environmental management, maritime safety, navigational technologies, and port management. The goal? DMU brings some serious firepower to the table. The university operates two ocean-going training vessels, a dedicated research centre, and a newly launched ocean-going autonomous training vessel. This isn’t just about theory—it’s about hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology. The autonomous training vessel, in particular, offers a glimpse into the future of maritime operations, providing students with invaluable experience in navigating and managing autonomous ships.
The renewal was signed by Teo Eng Dih, MPA chief executive, and Shan Hongjun, president of DMU.
